CHANTROSE

AOP Côtes de Provence Rosé 2020
Divider

CHANTROSE was created in order to propose a premium quality rosé that is truly representative of the best Côtes de Provence rosé wines of the appellation.

To this effect, we have selected vineyard plots with an average age of 20 to 25 years that are implanted on soils composed of limestone for part and essentially of crystalline origin for the rest. These poor soils are well drained and it this shallow ground with little humidity that enables the vines to yield excellent quality grapes for winemaking.

The warm temperatures inherent to the Mediterranean climate vary from one vineyard to another due to the diversity in landform and the amount of sunshine they enjoy. Variations in soil geology are also important.

These desirable natural features are optimized to their full potential when tending to the vineyards and contribute to the complex aromatic palette of the different wines that compose the CHANTROSE blend. In vinifying this rosé wine our oenologist Pierre Vieillescazes has worked with rigor and great care to offer a result that represents its most beautiful expression.

COSTEVAL

AOP Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé 2020
Divider

The vineyards that grow on the Aix-en-Provence hillsides produce the most western of Provence wines. They are nestled in the heart of several small low mountain ranges - Nerthe, Fare, Eguilles and Trévaresse, and Costes in the continuation of the Alpilles range. The rugged landscape allows generous sunshine, which brings flavours of lime fruit and red berries to the grapes

In addition to its ideal geographic location, the terroir of our Costeval wine is exposed to the cold and dry Mistral wind that blows in from the north. This plays an essential role for the vineyard by reducing rainfall, which limits the development of diseases and enhances the grapes’ concentration in sugar. This ensures that our Rosé wine offers a most unique character and typicity.

Varietals : 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, 20% Cinsault.

Nature of the soils : stony clay-limestone.

Vinification and maturing : the grapes are picked in the coolness of the night, then subjected to mild direct pressing and a saignée. The blend is vinified at low temperature to ensure optimal preservation of the flavours.

Residual sugar : < 3 grams / liter.

Tasting notes : pale cherry-pink colour. Delicate nose, revealing floral aromas with touches of small fruits. The mouthfeel is straightforward and aromatic with a pleasant freshness, combing suppleness, roundness, vivacity and minerality.

Tasting notes : from 8°C to 10°C.

ROCHES DE FONTROUVIÈRE

AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence Rosé 2020
Divider

The vineyard of Coteaux Varois en Provence is situated in the heart of ‘limestone Provence’ where it grows in narrow basins and valleys. Production is geographically limited to an area of twenty-eight towns and villages. The terroir owes much of its character to the nature of the soil: a series of limestone and clay-limestone folds that run from east to west alternating with zones of rolled pebbles and flint.

The vineyards of our Roches de Fontrouvière wine grow at an altitude of 350 metres on average, 500 metres for the higher plots. They are protected from the maritime climate by rocky massifs on either side: Sainte-Baume to the west, Bessillons to the north and Barres de Cuers to the south. These characteristic rock formations play an essential part in the development of the vines.

“Roches de Fontrouvière” is the result of meticulous blending that aims to reveal the true expression of this exceptional appellation. The typicity and character of its terroir contribute to make this rosé an aromatic, gourmet and elegant wine.

Varietals : 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, 5% Cabernet- Sauvignon, 5% Ugni blanc.

Nature of the soils : clay limestone.

Vinification and maturing : the grapes are picked early in the morning so as to press the fruit directly after picking. This is followed by low-temperature clarification then fermentation using yeasts selected for their high thiol yield.

Residual sugar : < 3 grams / liter.

Tasting notes : Brilliant pale pink colour. Intense nose yielding notes of red fruit (raspberries) and stone fruit (peaches). The mouthfeel is fruity and tense, offering both freshness and good length on the palate.

Ideal serving temperature : from 8°C to 10°C.

TERRASSES DE FONTANIEU

AOP Bandol Rosé 2020
Divider

In the VIth centruy BC, the Phoceans arrived on the shores of the current village of Bandol to establish a settlement. They brought with them their amphora as well as the vine and wine civilisation that continued to prosper under the Roman Empire. The development of maritime trade combined with the winemakers' savoir-faire contributed to the reputation of Bandol wine, which was also later served at the royal table of King Louis XV of France.

The port of Bandol is at the origin of the name of the wines that were produced in the surrounding villages and brought to Bandol to be shipped, just like Bordeaux conferred its name to the wines from Gironde that were exported through its harbour.

Well defined by its geological barriers, the vineyard spreads out in terraces: to retain the soil and remove the stones the vine growers built many dry stone walls created by hand. Bandol is a rare wine, with a very limited production: "one vine stock, one bottle", this is how the winemakers describe this intentional limitation of the yield.

Varietals : 40% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 30% Mourvèdre.

Nature of the soils : clay-limestone.

Vinification and maturing : the grapes are hand-picked early in the morning. This is followed by direct pressing before fermentation of the free run juice at cold temperature.

Residual sugar : < 3 grams / liter.

Tasting notes : very light brilliant pink colour with bluish hues. Expressive nose, elegant and fruity with refined aromas of mango and red kirsch fruits. The mouthfeel is full and well-balanced on the palate. Pleasant attack moving on to flavours reminiscent of fruits aromas described above

Ideal serving temperature : from 8°C to 10°C.

JAS DES VIGNES

IGP Alpes de Haute-Provence Rosé
Divider

Jas des Vignes, litterally “sheep-fold of the vines” is a selection of the best vineyards on the hills, close to the village of Manosque, at the heart of the Alpes de Haute Provence.

The climate here, while exhibiting characteristics of the Mediterranean type, is moderated significantly by the presence of the Alps and the rather high altitude of the vineyards. Hot, sunny summer days are followed by much cooler nights as air from the Alps descends into the vineyards. As a result, wines from this appellation are lighter and known to be more aromatic than the richer, more supple wines from lower-lying vineyards to the south.

JAS DES VIGNES rosé is the result of a rigorous production method, mindful of constantly offering the very best of the appellation.

Varietals : 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, 10% Muscat Petits Grains.

Nature of the soils : sandy loam soil with some schist and granite

Vinification and maturing : the grapes are picked early in the morning so as to proceed with direct pressing on the freshly picked fruit. This is followed by a low temperature fermentation (between 10 to 15 days) which ensures that the full aromatic potential is expressed.

Residual sugar : < 3 grammes / litre.

Tasting notes : superb pink colour, verging on salmon. Rather intense floral nose, with notes of strawberry and exotic fruits. The mouthfeel reveals a sensation of freshness, and full-body. It reveals a remarkably long finish.

Ideal serving temperature : from 8°C to 10°C

PERLE DE VALENSOLE

Provence is the oldest of France’s wine regions, and the production of rosé wines has been a speciality here for more than two millennia. Provence is the leading producer of AOP rosé wines in France, and is the only wine region to devote more than 88% of its production to this colour. This is because the climate, the soils and the grape varieties of Provence are conducive to the production of rosé wines.

The Provençal wine region nevertheless produces remarkable, powerful and well-structured reds that can be aged for several years in the cellar, and airy, tender, delicate whites.

Explore our wines from this regionʼs best terroirs.
